The NHL is full of some of the best athletes in the world. Not only can they do things we can only dream of, but they do it on ice. Then, there are the players we put on a pedestal who just don't deserve it. These 15 players have somehow made everyone believe they are great.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are in rebuilding mode, and Nazem Kadri is one of the pieces they are using to keep the trade talk going. Rumors were swirling at the beginning of the season that he was going to get traded for Travis Zajac of the Devils. He is a decent player, but people talk about him like he's actually scored more than 50 points before.

Matt Beleskey came out of nowhere to be one of the most coveted free agents in the league last season. The Boston Bruins won his "sweepstakes," but what did they win? He scored 22 goals last season, but never before had he scored more than 11 in six years. He just isn't worth the hype he received.

Justin Schultz was supposed to be a generational player when he became a free agent back in 2012. Teams lined up for him, but he eventually signed with the Edmonton Oilers. Some may say he is a minus-66 because of the team he is on, but he is a big part of the problem.

Steve Mason still finds his way into the conversation of good goaltenders. He had decent stats last year but still couldn't win games. This season he just isn't that good. The Flyers have so many holes, it's hard to focus on Mason, but he just isn't worth the credit he is given.

Mike Fisher is the typical player who was underrated for so long that he became overrated. He's never played a full season, and he can't score a lot. He is a third line player playing on a first and second.

Matt Moulson once scored 30 goals three years in a row, but that seems like a decade ago at this point. Since signing a five-year deal with the Sabres, he forgot how to score. That was really his best skill prior to the contract. Now, he's been demoted to the fourth line.

Marc-Andre Fleury was once a great goalie. He carried the Penguins to two straight Stanley Cup appearances. Since then, he has been terrible in the playoffs. He's also becoming more and more average during the regular season. Most of that has to do with injuries, as he finds himself back on IR again.

Jordan Eberle can do great things on a bad team. He can score those bad goals that aren't necessarily crucial and has yet to have a season with a positive plus/minus.

I'm sure Sergei Bobrovsky would be a great goalie if he could stay healthy. The problem is he can't. His legacy will end up getting swallowed by his injury history.

Jakub Voracek was one of the best players in the league last year, but he's proving couldn't repeat the performance. After a year with just about a point per game, he only has 24 points in 36 games this year. 20 of those points come as assists.

5. Ryan McDonagh

Ryan McDonagh used to be one of the best players nobody was talking about. Now it's a good thing nobody is talking about him. He just hasn't been very good for the New York Rangers this season. He has the luxury of playing on a stacked defense, so he doesn't have to be great anymore.

4. Jordan Staal

Jordan Staal is no Eric. He will go on big stretches without appearing on the score sheet. Did you know all last season (46 total games) he only had six goals?

3. Chris Kunitz

Of all the years the Penguins needed Chris Kunitz to show his value, this was the year. The Pens are seriously lacking in depth. Kunitz could be one of those depth scorers to help take the pressure off of Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. He has been unable to do that, and now the Penguins are way out of a playoff spot.

2. Ryan Kesler

Ryan Kesler was thought of as the steal of the offseason last year. One season in, it looked like it could be true. This season Kesler just hasn't been good. He is one of the reasons why the Ducks rank dead last in goals per game.

1. Dustin Brown

The Los Angeles Kings are a very good hockey team, and Dustin Brown is a very good captain. Those two things don't make Brown a very good player. He is on pace for nine goals this season. He's a checking forward who is getting more clout than he deserves.
