By Todd Panula

The Blues have many players who wore the sweater and ended up in the Hall of Fame.  They have had several of the best players of their age as well. Here are the top six forwards, top four defensemen and top two goalies to play in the All-Star Game while with the Blues.

Brendan Shanahan

Shanahan went on to greater glory with the Detroit Red Wings, but still remains a fan favorite in St. Louis. He only suited up for one All-Star game with the Blues, but put two pucks into the back of the net.

Adam Oates

Like Shanahan, Oates' time with the Blues was too brief. However, he made the All-Star game twice with the 'Note' and racked up a goal and five assists in those games. Only Brett Hull has more All-Star points with the Blues. The fact he was playing with Hull probably didn't hurt.

Brett Hull

This one is a no-brainer. The video sums up Hull's All Star achievements. Despite winning Cups in other cities, he is still the most popular Blues player of all time and the arena where the Blues play is still considered the ''house that Hull built."

Pavol Demitra

It was tempting to put Vladimir Tarasenko in this slot based on pure excitement and potential. The spot almost went to 'Mr. Blue' Bernie Federko as well. However, despite the frustration he gave many fans during his time in St. Louis, Demitra was a talented goal scorer. He played in three All-Star games with the Blues and scored three goals.

Red Berenson

Berenson played with NHL blue bloods like the New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens. However, he was a star with the Blues. He made three All-Star games, scoring a goal and two assists. He was surprisingly traded away, but returned to the team and made the All-Star team again. Berenson later coached the Blues and more famously, the Michigan Wolverines, but is still one of the best to lace up skates for the Blues in an All-Star contest.

Gary Unger

In an odd twist of fate, it was Gary Unger whom the Blues acquired in the Red Berenson trade. Unger never scored fewer than 30 goals with the Blues in a full season. He played in seven All-Star games, matching Hull, and scored a goal and three assists in those games. Like the video about Hull said, Unger is the only other Blues player to win the MVP award at the All-Star game.

Al MacInnis

Al MacInnis

MacInnis played in six All-Star games with the Blues, outmatched only by Hull and Unger. He only scored one goal, but mainly that was because he didn't want to injure anyone with his amazing slapshot in an exhibition. He won the hardest shot competition seven times (five with the Blues) and is one of the overall-best defensemen in league history.

Chris Pronger

Pronger, known for his physically imposing stature and style of play actually got points in the All-Star game. He played in four with the Blues and had three assists. One can imagine many of those were probably long passes or dumps out of the zone that led to breakaways but the point remains. Pronger wasn't high on skill, but he remains one of the better Blues defensemen to play in the All-Star game.

Scott Stevens

To be fair, this spot should have gone to Rob Ramage. Ramage played in three All-Star games with the Blues and got an assist. However, Stevens gets the nod due to overall talent. Stevens made an All-Star game in his lone season with the Blues and made 13 overall.

Al Arbour

Like Stevens, Arbour could have been passed over. He only appeared in one All-Star game in four seasons with the Blues. However, he was the team's first captain and a great leader. Like Berenson, Arbour went on to a great coaching career including several seasons with the Blues. Plus, the guy played with glasses. I mean come on, that takes guts.

Glenn Hall

There were several choices in net. Mike Liut gave up no goals in his one appearance. Curtis Joseph was a fan favorite but gave up three goals in his one game. Surprisingly, Grant Fuhr never played an All-Star game with the Blues. So, Glenn Hall gets the choice. He played in two All-Star games and only allowed one goal. He also helped the Blues to some of their only Cup finals appearances.

Jacques Plante

Like Hall, it was expected that other names would go into this spot. However, like Hall, Plante only gave up one goal in two All-Star game appearances with the Blues. Also, like Hall, Plante had a lot to do with the Blues getting to their only Cup finals appearances in team history. In the end, it is hard to argue against two all-time greats even if they were in the twilight of their careers.
