Philadelphia Flyers Goalie Michal Neuvirth Collapses to Ice Out of Nowhere

By Anthony Blake

An extremely frightening scene occurred on Saturday night when Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Michal Neuvirth was awaiting a faceoff at the far end of the ice approximately seven and a half minutes into the game.

At that point he fell backward and collapsed onto ice, laying motionless.

Any injury is scary, but this particular incident came without warning and saw action at one end of the ice immediately shift focus to the other side of the rink.

Flyers athletic trainer Jim McCrossin was on the ice quickly to attend to Neuvirth along with three other team doctors.

Though he appeared to be unconscious for a period of time, Neuvirth did move his arms and legs and sat up on the ice prior to being stretchered off and taken to a local hospital.

Here’s hoping for the best of health.
