2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs: Overtime Thrillers Highlight Game 1 Action

Overtime in playoff hockey is unrivaled in terms of intensity, so it’s only fitting that the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs kicked off with not one but two OT specials.

First, this ending for the Edmonton Oilers against the San Jose Sharks was a rough way to lose your first playoff game in a decade.

Then, this individual effort from Vladimir Tarasenko for the St. Louis Blues facilitated their Game 1 triumph and redemption against the Minnesota Wild.

In both of these cases, the visiting team claimed Game 1 to put the home squads into must-win territory very early.

If these two series maintain this level of dramatics throughout, it’s going to be a heart-pounding playoff experience for hockey fans everywhere.

But that was a given anyway, right?
