This Saturday’s game against USC is not only big because it will be first home game at Notre Dame Stadium in more than 21 years, but there also will be plenty of recruits making either their official or unofficial visits to the Notre Dame campus.

Here is the best list that I found of the players who will be on campus this weekend. This list is from Jake Brown, a recruiting analyst over at Irish Illustrated.

2012 Recruits

Ishmael Adams — cornerback — Westlake Village, Calif.
Arik Armstead — defensive end — Elk Grove, Calif.
Zach Banner — offensive tackle — Lakewood, Wash.
Scott Daly — long snapper — Downers Grove, Ill. (commit)
Justin Ferguson — wide receiver — Pembroke Pines, Fla. (commit)
Deontay Greenberry — wide receiver — Fresno, Calif. (commit)
Mark Harrell — offensive lineman — Charlotte, N.C. (commit)
Will Mahone — running back — Austintown, Ohio (commit)
Donaldven Manning — cornerback — Miami
Byron Marshall — running back — San Jose, Calif.
Keith Marshall — running back — Raleigh, N.C.
Ifeadi Odenigbo — outside linebacker — Centerville, Ohio
Romeo Okwara — outside linebacker — Charlotte, N.C. (commit)
Jordan Payton — wide receiver — Westlake Village, Calif.
David Perkins — outside linebacker — South Bend, Ind. (commit)
Brian Poole — cornerback — Bradenton, Fla.
KeiVarae Russell — running back — Everett, Wash.
Tee Shepard — cornerback — Fresno, Calif. (commit)
John Theus — offensive tackle — Jacksonville, Fla.
Shaq Thompson — safety — Sacramento, Calif.
Bryce Treggs — wide receiver — Bellflower, Calif.
John Turner — safety — Indianapolis (commit)
Sheldon Day — defensive lineman — Indianapolis (commit)
Jarron Jones — defensive end — Rochester, N.Y. (commit)
Chris Brown — wide receiver — Hanahan, S.C. (commit)
Taylor Decker — offensive tackle — Vandalia, Ohio (commit)

Lots of big names on this list, none bigger than Armstead, who decommitted from USC earlier this week. There is even talk out there that Mike Brey has been talking about to Armstead about joining the ND basketball team. This stud is a must get for this class.

The two Marshall kids are the other big names. The Irish still have one more opening for a running back in this class. Both are excellent players, who are some of the top talent in the other country. I don’t think Brian Kelly would mind having either guy.

Theus is another interesting name because he is a Georgia commit. Theus has still shown interest in attending Notre Dame and he would be a great get by this staff. It is fun to think about a possible offensive line with Theus and Jones in a couple of years.

You can’t catch your chickens before they hatch though.

2013 Recruits

Matt Alviti — quarterback — Park Ridge, Ill.
Adam Breneman — tight end — Camp Hill, Pa.
Elijah Daniel — defensive end — Avon, Ind.
Steve Elmer — offensive tackle — Midland, Mich. (commit)
Jason Hatcher — defensive end — Louisville, Ky.
Ethan Pocic — offensive tackle — Lemont, Ill.
Ryan Switzer — running back — Charleston, W.V.
Shaquille Wiggins — cornerback — Tyrone, Ga.
Hunter Bivin — offensive tackle — Owensboro, Ky.
Jon Reschke — linebacker — Bloomfield, Mich.
Jalin Marshall — athlete — Middletown, Ohio
Laquon Treadwell — wide receiver — Crete, Ill.
Jaylon Smith — linebacker — Ft. Wayne, Ind.
Ty Isaac — running back — Joliet, Ill.
Taco Charlton — defensive end — Pickerington, Ohio
Christian Morgan — tight end — Plano, Texas
James Quick — wide receiver — Louisville, Ky.
Ryan White — cornerback — Louisville, Ky.
Dalyn Dawkins — athlete — Louisville, Ky.
Billy Price — defensive end — Austintown, Ohio

I haven’t followed the 2013 class very closely because I have had my attention on the ’12 class. Alviti is the name that a lot of the coaching staff will have their eyes on. He is the only quarterback that will be in attendance for this game and the main guy that the Irish are going after in next year’s class.

Basketball Recruits

Zach Auguste — power forward — New Hampton, N.H. (commit)
Austin Burgett — forward — Avon, Ind. (commit)
V.J. Beachem — small forward — New Haven, Ind. (2013 commit)
Demetrius Jackson — point guard — Mishawaka, Ind. (2013)
Alex Foster — power forward — Chicago (2013)
Jalen Coleman — point guard — Indianapolis (2015)
Maverick Morgan — power forward — Springboro, Ohio (2013)

This is a big weekend for the basketball team as well. There will be three commits that will be watching the game and four others who the Irish are still recruiting. Smart move by Brey to bring these kids in on such a huge weekend for the school.

Is this the biggest recruiting weekend in Notre Dame history? I would have to say yes. Out of all the years that I have watched Notre Dame football, I don’t remember this many stud recruits for both sports being on campus in the exact same weekend. I don’t think it is very common for most schools across the country, much less for Notre Dame.

Hopefully the Irish can put a beat down on the Trojans and add a few commits in the process this weekend.
