Conor Jackson joins the party on the DL
Conor Jackson has been the latest A’s player to be sent to the Disabled List sparking the speculation from some fans as to how fun are rehab assignments and can we go on one too?
All kidding aside Jackson was sent to the DL on Monday joining Dallas Braden, Brett Anderson and perennial party host Eric Chavez. The move is retroactive to last Thursday, July 1st, and is hoping to play when eligible on the 16th of this month.
The injury, which is being credited to his notorious right Hamstring, was sustained by Jackson in mid June in the series against the Cubs; however he further aggravated it the following day against the Cardinals.
Jackson has already missed 18 games for the Diamond Backs, but who would want to play for them anyways, due to a similar injury he suffered this year. Injuries have been a problem for Jackson the last two years, and he is fed up with it, a good sign seeing as some players, I’m looking at you Eric, seem to love their time on the DL.
“After missing so much time last year and missing 18 days from this year already, now this. But I’m not going to let it drag me down. I’m going to rehab and try to get back healthy as possible.”
Hopefully we will get him back 100% when he is due. He is to be replaced by OF’s Matt Watson and Matt Carson while he rehabs, Starting Pitcher Clay Mortensen was also sent back down to the minors to make room.
On the bright side we do get Matt Carson back, who some may remember fondly for his slapstick routine he enjoys entertaining fans with on the warning track (refresher available here).
