Every offseason in every sport brings with it a never ending stream of rumors.

Coaches are leaving, players are transferring, etc. are all mentioned every offseason depending on the successes or failures the team experienced during the season.

For the Oklahoma Sooners, it was far from a disappointing season as a whole, but it left a lot to be desired in the minds of every associated with the football program. The Sooners were picked by most preseason publications as the No. 1 team in the country.

Oklahoma maintained that high level of play throughout the first half of the season, but against Texas Tech at home, the Sooners lost for the first time in 40 games at Owen Field. It was a flat performance and it showed that all the problems that OU had been experiencing throughout the season were not flukes, but rather real problems that desperately needed to be addressed.

A domination of Kansas State seemed to quiet the masses, but losses to Baylor and OSU down the stretch of the season were full of the same issues that caused the Sooners to fall against Texas Tech.

Now, in the midst of the Sooners’ preparations for the Insight Bowl against Iowa on December 30, rumors have begun to fly all over Norman about coaches and players on the move.

Rumors are scary things. They can be completely false, or they can have some truth in them. There is also the rare time where the rumors are completely true.

Right now, the rumors surrounding the Oklahoma football program are just that, rumors. No one has confirmed or denied any of the things floating in the ever-present Oklahoma wind. Until there is more substantial proof of their validity, this reporter won’t be sharing what he’s heard with you.

Reports should be full of facts, not some half-truth that you heard from your neighbor’s best friend on his wife’s side of the family. No good comes of that. When truth is revealed, it will be shared and passed along.

I will share that the rumors going around involve both coaches and players, but that’s as much as will be shared.

The truth will reveal itself in time and when that time comes, we may be looking at a very different Oklahoma football team.

One Rant to “Oklahoma Sooners Football: Rumor Mill Turning in N...”

  1. Dion says:

Look. Change is good. Players like Harris and rb Williams made mistakes. Williams is a freshman and maybe he should not have been playing. Stoops has stadards fro RB’s i.e. YOU DON’T FUMBLE…in 2008 Murray and Brown combined for only two fumbles! Get it. You fumble you don’t know all the plays you got to go. Harris was embarassing. I don’t like always playing a soft zone…you know keep everything in front…our backs did this but were too slow in reacting to the play once the wr caught the ball.
