Oklahoma Sooners Complete 2012 Football Schedule
The 2012 Big 12 football schedule was released yesterday, and now, the Oklahoma Sooners have also completed their out of conference schedule for next season.
The Sooners were in need of two non conference games for much of the off season after they lost a game when TCU became a conference game.
In this particular case, the rumors were true about Oklahoma’s schedule.
Oklahoma will start the season on Sept. 1 on the road against the UTEP Miners. It will be the first time since 2002 the Sooners have begun a season on the road.
On Sept. 8, the Sooners will open their home slate against FCS opponent, Florida A&M. It will be just the third FCS opponent the Sooners have faced during the Bob Stoops era.
Conference games are subject to change, and an ideal scenario for the Sooners would be for their Oct. 20 game with Kansas be switched to Sept. 29. Both the Sooners and the Jayhawks have a bye week Sept. 29, and it would allow the Sooners to have a bye week later in the season, rather than playing nine straight weeks to end the season.
The 2012 season won’t be the most difficult the Sooners have faced, but it will be far from easy. Another run at a national title is quite possible. Although, that’s always expected in Norman, whether it’s possible or not.
