Joshua Perkins, Willis Wilson Kicked Off Washington Huskies Football Team
Kyle Terada-US PRESSWIRE

To quote a line from the movie The Big Lebowski, “this isn’t Vietnam… there are rules.”  Two Washington Huskies are not following the rules.

For the usual unspecified reasons, Joshua Perkins and Willis Wilson have been kicked off the team.  The press release was as ambiguous as an unopened mailbox.  Simply tight end Perkins and running back Wilson violated team rules and are no longer Huskies.

If there is a common theme running up to the beginning of the 2012 football season (or any season for that matter) it is the no news is good news cliche’.  Injuries and suspensions are finding their way onto headlines every day.  LSU corner Tyrann Mathieu was dismissed from the team last week.  Maryland lost its starting quarterback C.J. Brown because of an ACL Tear.

In April Colorado State suspended three players from a fight near campus, and just this week CSU reported two injuries to key reserves.

As for the Huskies, they already suffered another season ending injury to reserve running back Deontae Cooper.  Not much was expected of either Perkins or Wilson as far as playing time is concerned.  However with Cooper no longer in the picture, further injuries or suspensions to the running back corps will make head coach Steve Sarkisian extremely nervous.

As of now, there are only three tight ends on the Huskies roster with Perkins gone.

Washington has spent the off-season attempting to find a suitable replacement star back Chris Polk who is now in the NFL. The list of possibilities is narrowing by the day.

It’s hard enough to keep players from hurting themselves during camp let alone having to deal with off-the-field incidents.

Around the nation college football fans are biting their nails.  Bad behavior and boo-boo’s are an epidemic plaguing programs from coast to coast.  My advice for college football fans before the start of the season?  Say a Hail Mary, rub that rabbit foot, and hope a ladybug lands on your shoulder.
