With the NBA Draft only hours away, here at 76ersCentral.com we’re going to give you a breakdown of players the 76ers could select with the 16th overall pick. Below we’ll break down each player’s strengths and weaknesses and how their game will translate at the NBA level.

First up, we’ll take a look at Morehead State Power Forward Kenneth Faried.

After declaring for the NBA Draft after his Junior year at Morehead State, Fraried thought better of the decision and withdrew his name. Turns out, it was a good decision for Faried as the extra year at the college level did a lot to improve his game. The numbers aren’t drastically different, but Faried was able to focus more on playing power forward, at 6″8 the position he’ll likely play at the NBA level. One of Faried’s biggest accomplishments at Morehead State was breaking Tim Duncan’s Rebounding record.

Strengths

- NBA Ready Rebounder

- Strong, Athletic and Surprisingly Quick for a Big Man

- Strong Defensive Skills

- Great Motor

Weaknesses

- Undersized for His Position and Skill Set

- Frequently Gets in Foul Trouble

- Little to No Outside Range

- Needs to Improve his inside Offensive Moves

How His Game Translates at the NBA Level

Even though Faried lacks the ideal size for a Power Forward he’s as NBA ready as any Power Forward in the Draft when it comes to rebounding ability. His offensive game needs a lot of work if he hopes to see legit minutes at the NBA level, something he can certainly work on. What Faried lacks in skill he more than makes up with effort, he has a fantastic motor and is a relentless player on the defensive end. If Faried is able to develop more of an outside offensive game he could become an impressively versatile Power Forward at the NBA level.
