Brett Favre just couldn’t stay out of the headlines in 2010.
The consecutive games streak? Not even the biggest story involving Favre in 2010.
The biggest story involving Brett Favre in 2010 was, well, let’s just say it was a personal matter.
Literally.
To sum it up for those of you who are not fully aware of the situation, Favre conducted in some inappropriate texting with a New York Jets’ employee back in 2008, his lone season with the Jets.
Let’s just say the texting was definitely below the belt.
He also left the employee, Jenn Sterger, some inappropriate voice messages.
Favre admitted to sending the photos but would not admit to sending the pictures.
The NFL investigated the matter throughout the entire 2010 season.
They finally concluded, on December 29th, that they could not prove that Favre sent pictures to Sterger.
However he was fined $50,000 for “not being candid in several respects during the investigation resulting in a longer review and additional negative public attention for Favre, Sterger and the NFL.”
One of the reasons the investigation was limited was because it wasn’t brought to the NFL’s attention until several years after the incident occurred.
Sterger’s complaint to the league happened the week that Favre and the Vikings played her Jets (total coincidence).
During the game, Favre committed several key turnovers and the Jets won 29-20.
Throughout the entire season, Favre refused to comment on the Sterger scandal.
I guess he just let his playing do the talking.
