Seattle Seahawks Sign QB Tarvaris Jackson; Eagles Lost Leverage in Kevin Kolb Trade With Arizona
According to multiple reports, the Seattle Seahawks have agreed to terms with quarterback Tarvaris Jackson.
Jackson was signed to be the starter in 2011. Matt Hasselbeck was not offered a contract (and is a likely candidate as the Eagles’ backup quarterback).
By signing Jackson, the Seahawks have shown that they are not interested in trading for Eagles’ quarterback Kevin Kolb.
As a result, Kolb is not all but guaranteed to head to the Arizona Cardinals, possibly for less than the Eagles originally hoped for.
By signing Jackson, the Seahawks helped the Cardinals, who now know that the Eagles can’t try to create a bidding war between them and the Seahawks. They can offer a little bit less than they had originally anticipated and can still end up with Kevin Kolb.
Let’s just hope that they still plan on offering cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
