It’s been a wild and crazy offseason for the 2011 Philadelphia Eagles. In fact, it has been arguably the wildest and craziest offseason in the history of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Quite honestly, I’d go as far as to say that this has been one of the wildest and craziest offseasons for any franchise in National Football League history.

The Eagles’ team looks immensely different than it did a month ago. Added to the team’s roster were six Pro Bowlers and two former All-Pros, and no, those are not typos.

The eight playmakers include quarterback Vince Young, running back Ronnie Brown, wide receivers Steve Smith and Johnnie Lee Higgins, right tackle Ryan Harris, defensive end Jason Babin, cornerbacks Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

And who can forget about a player who will likely make just as big of an impact: defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins.

Gone from the team are backup quarterback Kevin Kolb, last year’s starting right guard Max Jean-Gilles, former first-round draft pick defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley, former All-Pro linebacker Stewart Bradley, right cornerbacks Ellis Hobbs and Dimitri Patterson, and three-time All-Pro/Pro Bowl safety Quintin Mikell.

Oh, and David Akers, the greatest kicker in franchise history, and Sav Rocca, the greatest punter in franchise history.

Over an upcoming series of articles, I will address the major roster changes that have helped shape the 2011 Philadelphia Eagles. I will predict how the major additions and subtractions will help or hurt the Eagles in the 2011 season.

I will highlight the surprise training camp battles, as well as the likely roster cuts. And I will address the non-football related news: the health conditions to both Jeremy Maclin and Mike Patterson.

Finally I will predict how the 2011 Philadelphia Eagles will do during the season, and if in fact they really are a “dream team” like Vince Young boldly stated.

*My apologies to anyone who regularly reads these articles for not posting over the last three weeks. I have been at training camp with the Eagles.
