Howard Smith - US PRESSWIRE

I have officially run out of words to use to describe the 2011 season for the Philadelphia Eagles.

I really have. There’s just nothing left to say.

This is beyond anything that I could describe. Embarrassing. Gutless. Disastrous. Abominable. Unspeakable. Unbelievable. None of those words properly describes just how bad this season really has been.

I guess nightmare might be the most accurate word, and the nightmare continued on Thursday night as the Eagles were blown out by the 4-7 Seattle Seahawks.

They lost 31-14 and would have lost 38-14 had Seattle not kneeled the ball from the one-yard line on the final play of the game.

They were torched by Tarvaris Jackson, who should be a career backup. They were manhandled by Marshawn Lynch, particularly on this 15-yard touchdown run that ranks among the greatest runs I have ever seen. They lost cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha to a concussion and special teams stud Colt Anderson to a torn ACL.

And the DeSean Jackson era might have come to an end, on the day of his 25th birthday. This is the Terrell Owens saga all over again, except this time the Eagles aren’t doing anything about it.

That’s about it. There’s really nothing else to say about this team that hasn’t been said a thousand times.

They can’t tackle. They can’t catch. They have no heart. They say the stupidest things you can possible imagine. They clearly don’t care about winning at all. They think they will be given victories just by showing up. They start losing and they just give up. They’re not a team. They don’t resemble a team in any way, shape, or form.

They’re 53 football players who care about themselves and their own statistics, and I apologize for the (very) few team players on the Philadelphia Eagles (Cullen Jenkins, LeSean McCoy, Jason Avant).

Let me sum up the Eagles’ season with this one clip from perhaps the greatest kids’ sports movie in history.

With the Eagles at 4-8, there’s really nothing left to cheer for this season. LeSean McCoy could collect a meaningless rushing title. Jason Babin might lead the league in sacks (or penalties).

But I really don’t care about any of that. This season could not have gone worse. It’s completely ruined and for the first time in my life, I will completely dread having to watch the Eagles on Sunday afternoon.
