Breaking Down the Philadelphia Eagles Free Agents: Who Should Stay?
He's probably the last player Philadelphia Eagles fans want back in the city. Vince Young was signed to be a more than competent backup for Michael Vick, essentially serving as the right-handed version. Young then had a season to forget, starting with his infamous Dream Team comments and ending with his awful play on the field, throwing eight interceptions in a three-start span. The Eagles were supposed to be the team for which Young resurrected his career, much like Vick did under Andy Reid.
In spite of how poorly he played, Young may actually come back to the team as the backup again in 2012. He's still young enough and athletic enough that he should be able to serve a purpose. Whether the Eagles bring him back will likely depend on how Reid and Marty Morhinweg feel about Young.
Is he completely washed up or did he simply have a rough three game stretch after an offseason that was vastly shortened by the lockout? It will also depend if Reid and Morhinweg have enough faith in third-string QB Mike Kafka to promote him to the backup. Kafka possesses a deep understanding of the offense but struggled in limited action in 2011.
