The Philadelphia Eagles need quarterback Michael Vick to stay healthy this season if they have any chance at fighting for a Super Bowl title. It’s an absolute necessity for Vick to remain injured.

Just ask President Barack Obama, who had some words of wisdom for Eagles cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha when the two met at a fundraiser in Oakland on Monday. He asked Asomugha to pass his message along to Vick.

“He told me to tell Vick to slide. I promise,” Asomugha told reporters when he arrive to Lehigh University for the start of training camp. “We talked about football for about three or four minutes. The one thing that stuck out — tell Vick to slide. He’s a big fan.”

So even the most powerful man in the United States agrees with you, the average fan, about Vick. The Eagles’ quarterback absolutely must learn how to slide. It could easily be the key to the season.

Vick took to Twitter to respond to Obama’s words, saying, “If the President of the U.S is saying I need to slide then I really need to start sliding. Lol. Thanks Mr. President!”

Let’s hope that Vick takes this advice for this season. He suffered four injuries last season and one the previous season, although interestingly only one of the six was the result of him not sliding (the rib cartilage tear against the Washington Redskins/ early in 2010). The other five were all in the pocket: thigh injury against the Minnesota Vikings, concussion against the Atlanta Falcons, bruised hand against the New York Giants, dislocated finger against the San Francisco 49ers, and broken ribs against the Arizona Cardinals.
