The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a tragic blow on Sunday morning, as Garrett Reid, the 29-year old son of head coach Andy Reid, was found dead in his Lehigh University dorm room.

Police have ruled out a suicide or foul play as the result of Garrett Reid’s death, and the investigation is still pending, according to police.

Players returned to practice this afternoon, per the request of Andy Reid, but it was somber sight. Owner Jeffrey Lurie just spoke with the team.

Courtesy of Eagles Insider, some of Lurie’s quotes are below:

“Today is one of life’s tough days.”

“Andy is a rock solid man. Compassion, feeling and strength are what make him great coach, he exhibited that all today.”

“There are choices to be made when tragedy strikes … Andy is going to take this curveball and hit it out of the park.”

“I expect Andy to be back coaching this week … He is very focused on family.”

Lurie said that Reid told him that he still plans to coach the Eagles’ preseason opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday, August 9th at 7:30 p.m.

However, Reid was not at the afternoon practice, as expected, and he is likely not going to be at tomorrow’s practices.

Players told Lurie that they are going to focus and practice hard.

Following practice, the Eagles said that three players will address the media: quarterback Michael Vick, wide receiver Jason Avant, and cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha. Those are three of the most well-spoken guys on the team.
