The Philadelphia Flyers Scott Hartnell had quite a scare during the 2nd period intermission of the Flyers 3-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings Friday night. Hartnell was held out of the rest of the game with an “elevated heart rate” which took an “abnormal” amount of time to return to normal.

Hartnell was examined back in Philadelphia on Saturday, tests came back negative. However, Hartnell will still see a cardiologist on Tuesday as a precaution.

“We’re getting him checked out, I’m sure it was a scary situation for Scott,” Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren said. We’re mildly concerned because he is a young guy. He had some twitching in his arms, Jimmy (McCrossin) looked at him right away and his heart rate was elevated. It should not have been after (the) period of time that they held him out.”

Hartnell will not play in Monday night’s game against the New York Rangers.
