The Philadelphia Flyers Are Not Looking to Add Another Goalie; Plus Chris Pronger Update
Despite the buzzings from fans on different Philadelphia Flyers fan pages on Facebook, Philadelphia is not looking to add another netminder.
Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquier has had a flurry of tweets from the Flyers Wifes Fight for Lives Carnival today:
If GM Paul Holmgren makes a move for a goalie, this wouldn’t be the first time he has lied about trade rumors. This time I actually do believe Homer for the simple fact that there is so much money invested in the current crew.
If any goalie is going it would be Sergei Bobrovsky for the simple fact that Ilya Bryzgalov has a NMC and even if he waived it who is really going to want him and that humangeous big contract.
Also, fans stop asking for Rick Nash and Steve Mason from the Columbus Blue Jackets. The rumors floating around for Nash would cost Philly Sean Couturier, James van Riemsdyk, Matt Read, Brayden Schenn, and Bobs. That is far too much to give up for Nash. As for Mason…..are you serious, his numbers are flat out terrible. I will skip his 7-21 record (league worst), his 45th ranked GAA which is 3.47, and I will focus on his save percentage which is also 45th in the league at .885. How can you honestly want him here, he won’t help anything. Our current goalies can’t save a beach ball but he won’t make it better.
Also, an update on Chris Pronger:

Why do you keep saying SCHENN and COUTURIER!?!?!?! THEY AREN”T INVOLVED FOR THE LAST TIME!!! Sure CBJ will bring it up in the talks but Holmgren is standing pat and NOT TRADING THOSE ROOKIES. The only players in danger of being traded are JVR, BOB, VORACEK and MAYBE READ!!!
Everyone keeps saying dont get nash because we will have to give up all our rookies WHEN THAT WAS NEVER THE CASE. STOP BRINGING IN SCHENN AND COOTS, its old news that THEY WONT BE INVOLVED!!!
According to CSN Philly’s Tim Panaccio, there are two speculative deals on the table at this point:
As for the asking price for a player of Nash’s caliber? Probably Sean Couturier and Brayden Schenn.
But … it may be something else. It may be James van Riemsdyk, another player, plus goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. Or a high draft pick besides a player.
The Flyers don’t want to move Couturier or Schenn, but if I’m Howson, I want both those players.
Today Dreger says price too steep for Flyers to obtain Nash in deal. May re engage in future.
It would cost Bobrovsky,JVR & Schenn or Couturiere.
