Baseball America released its annual list of the top ten prospects for each team. Trevor May, the ace of the high-A Clearwater team, was named No. 1.

The 22-year old May was 10-8 with a 3.63 ERA in 27 starts in 2011, averaging an amazing 12.4 strikeouts per nine innings. May was a fourth round pick of the Phillies back in the ’08 draft.

Freddy Galvis, the shortstop that many think may replace Jimmy Rollins as the team’s every day starter in 2012, was sixth on the list. Phillipe Aumont and Justin DeFratus, two late-season call-ups who project to be big-league closers, were fifth and seventh.

Rounding out the list were left-handed pitcher Jesse Biddle (second), catcher Sebastian Valle (third), right-handed pitcher Jonathan Pettibone (fourth), right-handed pitcher Brody Colvin (eighth), outfielder Jiwan James (ninth), and third baseman Maikel Franco (tenth).

Biddle was the club’s first round draft choice in 2010. Valle is seen as the potential heir apparent to Carlos Ruiz. Pettibone was one of the aces on the high-A staff. Colvin was regarded as a better prospect than Jarred Cosart at the beginning of last year, but struggled with injuries.

Baseball America also projected its 2015 Phillies team. Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Shane Victorino, and Hunter Pence remain starters. Valle is seen as the new catcher, Galvis at shortstop, Franco at third base, and Domonic Brown in left field.

For the pitching rotation, Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, and Cole Hamels make up the top three, followed by May and Vance Worley. Aumont is listed as the closer.
