Mickael Pietrus Wants Out of Phoenix?
The Suns got some very good news regarding their logjam at small forward this week.
In a recent interview with the French newspaper L’Equipe, Suns forward Mickael Pietrus said, “A lot of teams are interested in me, like the Lakers or the Celtics. This came from the best player in the world: Kobe Bryant. He told me two months ago that he would like to see me with the Lakers.”
Pietrus would continue on in the interview, “”Phoenix didn’t use me but that’s their problem. I’m going to continue working. The only thing I care about is winning a title.”
All of this comes a few weeks after Pietrus picked up his $5.3 player option for next season, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the Suns wouldn’t be thrilled to get rid of the veteran small forward. Moving him could be easier said than done, however.
There is no doubting both of Pietrus’ suggested destinations. Both Los Angeles and Boston would be a much better fits for him compared to Phoenix.
The Lakers are in need of depth at small forward, especially with how poorly Ron Artest played last season. Matt Barnes isn’t anything to get excited about either. Pietrus would be a good fit behind Paul Pierce in Boston as well for his defense and his ability to knock down open three’s.
There are a few problems though.
Neither would be able to sign Pietrus since he is now officially under contract with the Suns. It is also highly unlikely that the two teams would be willing to pick up Pietrus’ contract, especially Boston, which still needs to lock up a few key pieces of their own whenever the offseason gets underway once the lockout comes to an end.

No doubt about it. I see his point and the likelihood of him dictating his ticket to a 2012 NBA championship. I mean he did have to play with Steve Nash after the trade from Orlando. Tough. Kobe said he wants him, and Kobe influences everything from Deron Williams showing up there to the new coach Brian Shaw. I see that angle. Certainly, with Pietrus’ championship pedigree, he is desired in Boston and LA. I can’t wait until DWade and LeBron hear about this…they will want to get into the Pietrus sweepstakes. Win -Win Pietrus gets his chance for a championship somewhere and the impending bidding war for this talent will be off the charts, undoubtedly, returning the Suns some incredible talent.
