Steve Nash Prefers to Stay in Phoenix During Lockout
Suns fans got some of the best news of the entire offseason in regards to their star point guard.
In a press conference on Monday in Shanghai, Steve Nash stated that he would love to play in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), but other circumstances make him want to stay in Phoenix if the lockout goes well into the NBA regular season.
“Like I said before, if I did not have three daughters to take care of I would like to come and play in the CBA,” the Suns point guard said during the press conference.
Nash went on further to compliment the CBA.
“I know I have got a lot of diehard fans here, it’s incredible. The basketball league here is also awesome. It’s definitely a good league for all players worldwide,” Nash added.
Yes, Nash has all kinds of connections in China. He is one of the few players in the league with a shoe deal with a Chinese company and it is no secret that he would prefer to play in China over Europe. He is probably one of the few players in the league that has that preference.
All of that is all for not though because Nash is a family man first, which should come as no surprise to those who the two-time MVP and one of the league’s all-time great point guards so well.
It would be difficult for Nash to suddenly uproot his daughters from their friends and loved ones here in the States and send them to a foreign land for just a short period of time that could just consist of a couple of months, depending how long it takes the owners and the players to come to an agreement on a new deal.
Whether that takes place later this year or in 2012 remains to be seen, but at least we won’t be seeing Nash in another uniform come basketball season.
