[UPDATE] Sidney Crosby Press Conference Set for Wednesday
[POST UPDATE]
Since my post earlier this morning, I learned that Penguins Radio has also reported that a press conference is scheduled at the CONSOL for tomorrow at 12:30 (est).
There’s no immediate word about the subject of the press conference, but Rob Rossi has some ideas. Basically, Crosby saw a doctor in July who said it was fine for him to work out, but not to play full-contact, due to his concussion symptoms. He went to other doctors in August to get more opinions, and Rossi says the Penguins wanted Crosby to talk to the media if those meetings with doctors turned up any significant news.
This morning I was listening to 105.9 The X which is Pittsburgh’s “home of the Penguins.” They announced that a press conference is scheduled at the CONSOL Energy Center for tomorrow at 12:30 (est). Sidney Crosby is to address the media. Nothing was confirmed as of the time I posted this, but I will be sure to do so once it is (on the Penguins webpage).
They went on to say they don’t know what it’s about and did not want to speculate to avoid any rumors. But, of course, we can all be pretty certain it has to do with his status / progress. Speculation is abound and usually can’t be avoided; however, it could be either good or bad news.
I have read reports that prior to training camp he was supposed to see specialists again to get a better idea as to where he was with progress and whether or not he was able to participate in training camp as usual.
So stayed tuned to Steel City on Ice for any updated information I come across throughout the day and especially tomorrow for the press conference scheduled at 12:30 (est).
