The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Eric Tangradi from the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins one day ahead of the team’s meeting with the New York Rangers.
Tangradi has recorded no points and 12 PIM in 12 NHL games this season, looking lost at times but determined at others.
He is Wilkes-Barre’s third-leading goal-scorer with 15 in 37 games and his 31 points are good for fifth on the team.
No word yet on where Tangradi is likely to play tomorrow, though Evgeni Malkin, James Neal, and Matt Cooke all missed practice today, and head coach Dan Bylsma “hinted at least one of them may not play” against the Rangers, according to Pittsburgh’s 105.9 The X’s tweet.
None of those guys are replaceable players especially against the top team in the Eastern Conference at the moment, so let’s hope this is nothing serious.
