Penguins Recall Goalie Brad Thiessen from WBS
The Penguins just announced this morning that they called up WBS goalie, Brad Thiessen.
Not certain about this move and whether it’s a message because current back-up goaltender, Brent Johnson, has been playing so dismal or if something else is going on (perhaps Johnson has an injury or they’re getting ready to possibly make a move as I mentioned yesterday; Ty Conklin will clear waivers at noon today). The Penguins official webpage is also reporting that Johnson is not on the ice for this morning’s team skate. We will eventually see where this is leading at gametime, for sure, but it’s always fun to speculate what all the moves mean when we’re so close to trade deadline (and then come to find out you’re completely wrong, but that’s half the fun!).
Also recalled yesterday was forward Eric Tangradi who is believed to be replacing Tyler Kennedy. Pittsburgh placed Kennedy on injured reserve yesterday due to his high-ankle sprain (retroactive February 5th, the date of his injury during the game against New Jersey) and was previously reported to be in recovery the typical 4-6 weeks.
