Aaron and Andrew Harrison Narrow Their List to Three Schools

Richard Mackson-US PRESSWIRE

Aaron and Andrew Harrison have cut their list of colleges to Kentucky, Maryland, and Southern Methodist.

The Harrison twins play for Travis High School in Richmond, Texas and both rank No.1 at their position. Aaron is ranked No. 1 in ESPN’s 2013 Top Shooting Guards and Andrew is ranked No. 1 in ESPN’s 2013 Top Point Guards.

Reggie Rankin of ESPN revealed the prospective destinations. Rankin talked with their father, Aaron Harrison Sr. on Thursday.

Harrison Sr. also confirmed Maryland, SMU, and Kentucky with the Kentucky Kernel on Friday.

I believe the Harrison brothers chose Kentucky due to the school’s recent 2012 NCAA championship and its production of Anthony Davis.  Davis was the No.1 draft pick in the NBA draft and truly flourished in Kentucky under Coach John Calipari. Coach Calipari is a great coach and truly knows how to win.

I believe the Harrison twins chose Maryland due to their family roots within the state. It seems to be pretty common, among athletes, to play for the town where their family roots are. Derrick Rose, of the Chicago Bulls, and Carmelo Anthony, of the New York Knicks, are great examples of players who currently play for towns of their origin.

Although SMU is on the list, it was believed that SMU was the least likely choice among the three schools. I feel that it really is just a competition between Maryland and Kentucky. It’s hard to compete with the reigning NCAA Champions and a town where the Harrison brothers have family roots.

It was also believed that Baylor and Villanova were close to making the cut, but didn’t quite make it.

“Villanova because we just haven’t been able to get to them and it didn’t work out…Baylor because they had an in-home visit and the conversation was very similar to another school we still have on the list…” says Harrison Sr.

Although the Harrison brothers have cut their list to three schools, it is believed that the brothers will reveal their choice on October 29. The reason the Harrison brothers choose this date is because it is the day after their 18th birthday.
