Illinois High School Football: Week 5 Central Suburban League game capsules

Some interesting games as divisional play gets underway in Week 5. Here is this week’s Central Suburban League schedule….

Deerfield (1-3) at Glenbrook North (3-1): Deerfield couldn’t get past Waukegan in a 14-7 loss. Jacob Balder scored the lone touchdown for the Warriors. A.J. Spitz ran for two touchdowns to lead North to a 14-10 win over previously undefeated Evanston.

Highland Park (0-4) at Maine West (1-3): Andrew Sledd had a seven-yard touchdown to give Highland Park a lead against Niles West but couldn’t hold on in a 25-20 loss. The Warriors couldn’t slow down New Trier in a 28-7 loss.

Maine East (2-2) at Niles North (2-2): This is a game of two teams that would love to forget last week. It was a blowout loss for the Blue Demons, getting shutout 56-0 by Glenbrook South. Niles North was shutout 45-0 against Maine South.

Evanston (3-1) at Glenbrook South (2-2): The Wildkits lost their first game of the season in a 14-10 loss to Glenbrook North. Alex Vergara ran for 65 yards and caught three passes along with a touchdown. The Titans ran for nearly 200 yards in the first half of their 56-0 win over Maine East.

New Trier (2-2) at Maine South (4-0): The Trevians scored a 28-7 win over Maine West after taking a 28-0 halftime lead. Devin Boehm had two touchdowns in the win. Matt Alviti scored six touchdowns as the Hawks shutout Niles North 45-0.

Waukegan (2-2) at Niles West (4-0): The Bulldogs got past Deerfield 14-7 on a touchdown with just over a minute to go to clinch the win. The Wolves rallied for a 25-20 win over Highland Park. Jake Glotzer scored on a long touchdown run before going down to an injury.
