Illinois High School Football: Week 5 Mid-Suburban League game capsules
Week 5 means divisional play gets underway in the Mid-Suburban League. Here is a look at this week’s schedule….
Elk Grove (2-2) at Hersey (1-3): The Grenadiers couldn’t hold on to an early lead and lost 26-14 to Conant. Adam O’Malley threw an early TD pass to John Pass to give Elk Grove the lead. Quinn Orlandi had two touchdowns but it wasn’t enough as the Huskies lost 49-14 to Palatine.
Buffalo Grove (1-3) at Prospect (2-2): The Bison fell behind 33-3 by halftime and lost 40-10 to Barrington. Ryan Schumi had a 52-yard touchdown for Buffalo Grove. Devin O’Hara rushed for 185 yards but it wasn’t enough as the Knights lost 28-19 to Schaumburg.
Rolling Meadows (3-1) at Wheeling (2-2): Jack Milas threw four touchdown passes as the Mustangs beat Fremd 27-14. The Rolling Meadows defense forced six turnovers and had five sacks in the victory. Amani Dennis hit Mike Yoshino for a touchdown in overtime to give the Wildcats a 26-20 win over Hoffman Estates.
Barrington (2-2) at Fremd (2-2): The Broncos won their second straight game with a 40-10 win over Buffalo Grove. Justin Dragosz rushed for over 110 yards in the win for Barrington. Sam Beutler threw for over 230 yards and two touchdowns but the Vikings lost 27-14 against Rolling Meadows.
Conant (3-1) at Schaumburg (4-0): Tim Manczko caught five passes for nearly 100 yards along with a touchdown and interception to give the Cougars a 26-14 win over Elk Grove. The Saxons will be looking for their best start in six years after winning 28-19 over Prospect in Week 4. Sadarriss Patterson scored twice and had 110 yards rushing.
Palatine (3-1) at Hoffman Estates (0-4): Dan Riddle returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown to lead the Pirates to a 49-14 win over Hersey. The Hawks rallied from 14 points down to force overtime but couldn’t get the winning score in a 26-20 loss to Wheeling.
