Illinois High School Football: Week 6 Central Suburban League game capsules

The second week of divisional play brings a matchup of 5-0 teams….

Maine West (1-4, 0-1) at Deerfield (1-4, 0-1): The Warriors lost their fourth straight in a 42-21 loss to Highland Park. John Manicke had 125 yards rushing and a touchdown for West. Deerfield got run over 42-14 by Glenbrook North. Alec Frank ran for over 50 yards in the loss.

Maine East (2-3, 0-1) at Highland Park (1-4, 1-0): Javed Lukovic scored on a short touchdown run but not much enough went right for East in a 56-13 loss to Niles North. Andrew Sledd helped the Giants get their first win of the season with 190 yards rushing in a 42-21 win over Maine West.

Niles North (3-2, 1-0) at Glenbrook North (4-1, 1-0): Kris Achim ran for 160 yards and three touchdowns as Niles North won 56-13 over Maine East. Grant Rushing had over 280 all-purpose yards in a 42-14 win for the Spartans against Deerfield.

Evanston (3-2, 0-1) at Waukegan (2-3, 0-1): The Wildkits lost their second straight in a 24-8 loss to Glenbrook South as Evanston turned the ball over three times in the first half. Melvin BoBo IV threw for over 65 yards but the Bulldogs lost 13-0 to Niles West.

Glenbrook South (3-2, 1-0) at New Trier (2-3, 0-1): Max Cohen threw a long touchdown pass to Cody Carroll in the second half to put the game away for the Titans in a 24-8 win over Evanston. Michael Welch scored on a short run but it was too little, too late as the Trevians lost 45-14 to Maine South.

Niles West (5-0, 1-0) at Maine South (5-0, 1-0): Anthony Underwood ran for nearly 100 yards as West stayed undefeated with a 13-0 win over Waukegan. Matt Alviti threw two touchdown passes and ran for two more in a 45-14 win over New Trier. John Solari had over 130 yards receiving on six catches.
