Wisconsin prep football is gearing up for week six and with only two games remaining after this week, teams are fighting for a playoff spot. Here are games to keep an eye on this weekend.
Marshfield Tigers (5-0) @ Wisconsin Rapids-Lincoln Red Raiders (2-3) The Tigers have locked up a berth in the playoffs and are in a two-way tie for first place in the Valley Football Association-South Conference. The Red Raiders on the other hand are fighting for their playoff lives this season after finishing second a year ago in the WIAA Divison 1 state championship. An upset here would really catapult the Red Raiders and jump start a rather lackluster season.
Two Rivers Purple Raiders (5-0) @ Kewaskum Indians (5-0) These two teams have no worries of making the playoffs, but they are in a heated three-way battle for the top of the Eastern Wisconsin Conference along with the Plymouth Panthers. All three teams will end up playing each other once in the final three games, so the winner of this game will get the early jump on the conference lead.
Baraboo Thunderbirds (1-4) @ DeForest Norskies (3-2) The Norskies are looking to get back into the playoffs after making it to the Division 2 quarterfinals a year ago and losing to eventual champion Waunakee Warriors. For the Norskies to make it back, they will have to nearly win their remaining three games as they sit at just 1-2 in the Badger-North Conference.
Lancaster Flying Arrows (5-0) @ Dodgeville Dodgers (4-1) With only five of the eight games this season being conference games, both teams have no room for error. While coach John Hoch has the Flying Arrows poised and ready to win another Southwest Conference title, the Dodgers sit at 1-1 in conference play and cannot afford anymore losses.
