The 3-3 (2-2) Hudson Tigers look to extend their winning streak to 3 when they take on the 0-6 (0-4) Onsted Wildcats. Hudson after that rough stretch in their season where they lost 3 in a row, have now bounced back and keep their playoff birth alive. They are entering a trap game as they eye the last tough opponent on their schedule next week. Will they come out ready to play and take care of business this week?

Onsted kicked off their season with two home games, the first against the Gross Ile Red Devils and were blown out. They couldn’t slow down their rushing attack that gained 317 yards on 49 carries as they were defeated 42-21. They then hosted the Frankenmuth Eagles who scored the 28-7 victory over the Wildcats.

From there they hit the road for two as they opened up conference play. Their first road game took them to the Ida Bluestreaks who squeaked past them for the 12-7 win. They then went up to Brooklyn, Michigan to face off against the Columbia Central Golden Eagles. Onsted’s offense looked completely inept as it could barley move the ball and yet again it could not shut down the Golden Eagle’s running game. Columbia Central scored the victory 28-6.

The Wildcats came back home to face off against the Hillsdale Hornets who blanked Onsted 27-0, once more they had trouble stopping their running back Brandon McMullen who had 19 carries for 124 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Last week they went to the Dundee Vikings. They lost yet again, but this time by a count of 23-14.

That brings us to this week. Hudson’s defense should not have any problems shutting down Onsted. They are struggling to run and to pass the ball. The Tigers’ defense has looked better in recent weeks, which doesn’t bode well for them in this game. I think Hudson will come out and shut down their running game, when they try to pass it will either fall harmlessly to the ground or be picked off. They are going to struggle yet again this week.

The Tigers’ offense I think is going to have a field day as well. Onsted has had a lot of trouble stopping the run and that is what Hudson is going to be looking to do. I think we will see a big day from the running game as a whole. They are led by Shay McDaniel at running back and I think he will get the game going in their favor. Their quarterback Alex Messer will get it going as well and I think he will only need to throw a couple of times, but it will probably go for big plays.

Last year when these two teams played, Hudson won the game 47-7. I think we will see that again this year. I think that Onsted offense is struggling and won’t be able to move the ball against this Tigers’ defense that has been getting its confidence back. They haven’t been able to move the ball well against anyone really and I think that continues this week. On top of that, Hudson’s running game I think will dominate and put even more pressure on this Wildcats’ team. My prediction is that Hudson wins handily 42-6.

This game will be played at Onsted High School in Onsted, Michigan on Friday, October 5th at 7:00 p.m.
