Illinois High School Football: Week 7 East Suburban Catholic game capsules
Teams continue to fight for playoff position as Week 7 gets underway in the East Suburban Catholic with undefeated Marist leading the way. Here are the Week 7 game capsules with each team’s overall record and conference record in parentheses….
Niles Notre Dame (4-2, 2-1) at Marist (6-0, 4-0): The Dons couldn’t get past Nazareth in a 21-6 loss. Chris James was held under 40 yards rushing in the loss. Ian Woodworth had over 200 yards passing and two touchdowns as the RedHawks defeated Carmel 28-7. Bryan Polak and Nic Weishar each had touchdown catches.
St. Patrick (3-3, 1-2) at Marian Catholic (1-5, 0-3): John Dabe returned the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown but that was one of the lone bright spots in a 49-13 loss to Joliet Catholic. The Spartans got their first win of the season with a 38-0 win over Champaign Central. Troy Nutall had over 155 yards rushing.
Carmel (2-4, 2-2) at Joliet Catholic (4-2, 2-1): The Corsairs couldn’t stop Marist in a 28-7 defeat. Nick Grandolfo scored the lone touchdown for Carmel. Ty Isaac rushed for four touchdowns and over 280 yards on the ground as the Hilltoppers pounded St. Patrick 49-13.
Nazareth (3-3, 1-2) at Benet Academy (5-1, 2-1): The Roadrunners slowed down Niles Notre Dame in a 21-6 win. Aeneas White had two touchdowns in the win. Benet shutout St. Viator 17-0 behind a 71-yard touchdown pass from Jack Beneventi to Jack Toner late in the first half.
St. Viator (3-3) at Washington, IN (1-6): The Lions were held scoreless in a 17-0 loss to Benet Academy and only managed 170 yards of offense. Washington lost 38-21 to Clay last week in Indiana high school play. Daigen Morgan threw for 75 yards and rushed for a touchdown.
