Illinois High School Football: Week 7 Fox Valley Conference game capsules
Week 7 in the Fox Valley Conference brings two big games with divisional titles possibly on the line. Here is the Week 7 schedule with each team’s overall record and divisional record in parentheses…
Grayslake North (5-1, 3-0) at Crystal Lake Central (5-1, 3-0): The Knights won their fifth straight game in a 42-21 win over Woodstock. AJ Fish had five touchdowns to lead North. The Tigers didn’t need any last minute magic in a 38-14 win over Grayslake Central. Tyler Jenkins had three touchdowns and nearly 200 yards rushing.
Woodstock North (4-2, 2-1) at Grayslake Central (2-4, 1-3): Adam Haimbaugh scored three times as the Thunder held Dundee-Crown 25-20. Ricky Krenger sacked D-C’s Garrett Ryan on fourth down to preserve the win. Jourdan Swopes scored two touchdowns but it wasn’t enough as the Rams fell 38-14 to Crystal Lake Central.
Woodstock (2-4, 1-3) at Hampshire (3-3, 2-1): Nick Rogers rushed for nearly 100 yards but the Blue Streaks couldn’t slow down Grayslake North in a 42-21 loss. The Whip-Purs scored twice on kickoff returns and held on for a 27-21 win over Johnsburg. Kyle Anderson scored the winning touchdown for Hampshire.
Jacobs (3-3, 1-2) at Prairie Ridge (2-4, 0-3): Josh Walker rushed for over 150 yards as the Golden Eagles’ rally came up just short in a 34-33 loss to Huntley. Kingsley Ebirim scored a first quarter touchdown but that was it for the Wolves in a 28-7 loss to Crystal Lake South.
Dundee-Crown (3-3, 1-2) at Crystal Lake South (3-3, 2-2): The Chargers rushed for over 270 yards led by JT Beasley but D-C fell 25-20 to Woodstock North. Beasley finished with over 90 yards on the ground. Austin Rogers had three touchdowns to lead the Gators to a 28-7 win over Prairie Ridge for their second straight win.
Huntley (4-2, 4-0) at Cary-Grove (6-0, 3-0): The Red Raiders saw a 14-point lead go down to one in the closing moments but the Huntley stopped a 2-point conversion from Jacobs to score a 34-33 win. Quinn Baker scored five touchdowns as the Trojans rolled past McHenry 42-3. Baker finished with 125 yards rushing.
Johnsburg (0-6) at McHenry (2-4): The Skyhawks rallied to tie Hampshire but couldn’t get the winning score in a 27-21 loss. Christian Nugent had over 100 yards rushing for Johnsburg. Marco Tello kicked a 25-yard field goal to give the Warriors an early lead against Cary-Grove but that was all of McHenry’s scoring in a 42-3 loss.
