Baylor Gets Commitment from Ishmail Wainright

Ron Chenoy-US PRESSWIRE

Missouri native Ishmail Wainright committed to Baylor late Thursday night.

Wainright chose Baylor over St. John’s, Texas and Ohio state.

Wainright is ranked No. 26 overall in the Class of 2013. He attends Montrose Christian in Washington, D.C.

The 6’6, 220 lbs wing player is an outstanding player and should be great for the Bears. He is very fluid with the basketball and is a versatile player. Wainright can run the transition game as well as anybody in his class and is a stand out scorer. He is most effective attacking the basket and creating scoring opportunities for himself or for his teammates.

Wainright was not only a great high school player, but also a great AAU player.  At times he stood out thanks to his athletics and his ability to score through traffic.

He joins Jonathan Motley, No. 34 ranked power forward, in the Class of 2013. With Motley and Wainright, the Bears should be an interesting team in 2013.

Baylor not only struck gold with Motley and Wainright, but also got a commitment from Leron Black, No. 12 overall recruit in the Class of 2014. With the youth and talent coming into Baylor, the team should be able to make some serious noise in the Big 12.

Coach Scott Drew hopes to make a big impact in recruiting across the country.

In the Class of 2012, Drew landed three top prospects in No. 3 overall prospect Isaiah Austin of Arlington, Texas, No. 36 ranked player Ricardo Gathers out of Laplace, La. and No. 63 ranked player L.J. Rose of Houston, Texas.
