The Copley Indians’ star running back Aregeros Turner has decided where he will play next year and he will stay in the state of Ohio as he will attend the Cincinnati Bearcats. This speed back is going to look to help out the Bearcats in the future with his ability to make guys miss, run hard and catch the ball out of the backfield.

Turner will be joining a team that looks pretty strong under 3rd year head coach, Butch Jones. His first year was rough as he took over a team that lost their head coach and that year they went 4-8. They turned it around for a 10-3 record and were co-champions of the Big East. This year they are standing 5-1 with that only loss coming out of conference.

Turner looks to fit in well with the system they have there in right now they are ranked 16th in the nation in rushing. Their running back now, George Winn, is a senior so they won’t have him next year. Cincinnati does have quite a bit of depth on the roster at this position, but with Turner’s speed, if he can impress the coaches I’m sure he can see the field sooner than later.

This season for Turner has been a bit rough. Copley doesn’t have much else to help him out, so he has been taking the team on his shoulders and trying to take them to victory alone. He has gained 1,035 yards with 16 touchdowns this year, which is down from last year.

What makes Turner dangerous and why teams wanted him is that he’s good out of the backfield to catch the ball. He truly is an all-purpose back and is very dangerous when he gets out in space to catch the ball. This season he has 14 receptions for 224 yards with 2 touchdowns.

As I alluded to already, he numbers are down from last year. He gained 1,800 yards on the ground and caught another 300 yards with 18 touchdowns. The yards were down as he has combined for only 1,259 yards, but he has found pay-dirt just as much with 18 combine touchdowns. Copley didn’t have much to help him on, so it makes the numbers that much more impressive. Many defenses keyed on him, but not all could stop him.

I think this is a great pick-up by the Bearcats. From what I have seen, the Bearcats run the ball for quite a bit of success. Their junior quarterback Munchie Legaux can throw and run the ball, so bringing in a back like Turner could really enhance this. Turner runs the option in high school, so that is something Cincinnati could run from the beginning with him. This can also open up their passing game as having Turner in gives another receiving option. Screens and draws are another way to utilize him in their offense.
