Logan Neitzke with a Tough Choice Ahead of Him

Appleton North Lightning’s defensive end Logan Neitzke has received four offers from the likes of the Air Force Falcons, Army Black Knights, North Dakota and South Dakota Coyotes. But it could be an attractive preferred walk-on offer that could sway Neitzke’s decision.

The Wisconsin Badgers are also in the mix as they have a preferred walk-on offer on the table for Neitzke. After receiving offers from the Falcons and Coyotes back in May, Neitzke attended camps with the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Badgers and Northwestern Wildcats  in June. August was when the Black Knights came calling and offered Neitzke a scholarship as well. But the preferred walk-on offer from the Badgers is making the decision much harder.

In my eyes, this is a three horse race between the Falcons, Black Knights and Badgers with the last two being the front-runners. What it boils down to is whether Neitzke wants to take the full ride with the Black Knights or stay in-state and close to home and take the preferred walk-on offer from Bret Bielema and the Badgers. Is that enough for Neitzke to turn down a full ride to stay in Wisconsin? I think so and I’ll tell you why.

The Badgers have a knack for having players accept a walk-on offer and later on in their collegiate career become stars and eventually receive a scholarship (i.e. Jared Abbrederis). Also playing for a Big Ten school and a program that is ranked, for the most part, in the top 25 almost every week has also got to be a little more attractive to the senior.

I can’t imagine that this is going to be an easy decision for Neitzke. With national signing day just under three months away, Neitzke has some time to make a decision as I believe his will come down to the wire. But when he does decide I believe he will stay in his home state and play for the Badgers.
