Some say best things come to those that wait. I guess Keita Bates-Diop couldn’t wait to commit to Ohio State, after committing this afternoon.

The Normal, Illinois star confirmed his commitment via Twitter.

“I felt really good about the school and the relationship with the staff…The academics are great too and the people I met around campus were great too,” says Bates-Diop.

The 6’7, 190 lbs power forward picked Ohio State over Illinois, Michigan, Purdue, Kansas State, Louisville and other top name schools.

Bates-Diop is considered the 21st best player in the Class of 2014 and the fifth best forward in his class.

At University High School in Bloomington, Illinois Bates-Diop averaged 13.6 PPG and 4.6 RPG as a sophomore. He was named first team All-State in 2A by the Associated Press.

Bates-Diop is the Buckeyes first commitment for the 2014 class. Buckeye fans are excited to have him, especially after signing Kameron Williams and Marc Loving from the Class of 2013. The Buckeyes should have an interesting team for years to come will Bates-Diop leading the way.

I personally like Bates-Diop and I’m happy that an Illinois native got signed to a great school. Bates-Diop is a very athletic power forward that has a great feel for the game. He is solid around the rim and play outstanding defense. His 7’3 wingspan makes him a nightmare on defense and his speed compliments the rest of game.

I like that he chose Ohio State, even though I would loved for him to stay in Illinois. Ohio State has a great program, but has had struggles reaching it to the NCAA championship in recent years. Hopefully Bates-Diop can be the missing piece the Buckeyes need to reach the top.
