The nation’s top offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil has two schools in the running, the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs. It just so happens those two teams are top of the SEC in their respective divisions.
The 6’6″ 250 pound senior has quite a predicament on his hands. Go with the tradition and the defending national champion Crimson Tide or choose the up-and-coming Bulldogs and help them get over that hump? If both teams hold serve the final week of the season, the two schools could not only be playing for the coveted SEC championship, but also for the top lineman in the nation.
Tunsil recently visited the Crimson Tide on November 10, when they lost to the Texas A&M Aggies 29-24. Although that was a very tough loss for the Tide, they are not only still in the driver’s seat for the conference title but also for a national title as well. Those two factors could make the Tide just that much more of an attractive choice for Tunsil. Not to mention the Tide have won the last two of three BCS titles and are always in contention for a championship.
The Bulldogs on the other hand are one of those teams that in the past few years have been good but just have not been able to get over that proverbial hump. That is where a recruit like Tunsil comes in. He could very well be the type of guy that the Bulldogs need to get them to the promise land. This season the Bulldogs are starting to show that they belong once again in the discussion as one of the top teams in the SEC and in the nation.
All of this adds up to what could be a very good showdown in two weeks. Tunsil’s decision could very well lie in the hands of the winner of the SEC title game. More than just a conference championship will be riding on this game.
