The wait may be finally over. One of the most highly sought-after recruits in the 2013 class, Chicago Simeon forward Jabari Parker, has set December 20 as the day he will announce his NCAA decision.

Parker’s final five schools are the Duke Blue Devils, Stanford Cardinal, Florida Gators, Michigan State Spartans and BYU Cougars.

Although those are the five schools that are in the running, it looks like it is going to come down between two programs, the Blue Devils and Spartans. Parker’s father, Sonny, is even in the dark in the decision, but did tell USA Today “I think it will probably be between Duke and Michigan State. That’s what I’m thinking.”

The choice being a two horse race is nothing new as most expected it to come down to the Blue Devils and Spartans.

Tom Izzo and the Spartans have been in hot pursuit of Parker, as they have absolutely no commits from the 2013 class. Not only would Parker be their first of the year, but it would be one recruit that would surely not disappoint.

The Blue Devils are a program that goes out and grabs talent from anywhere in the nation. Coach Mike Krzyzewski knows talent when he sees it and has recruiting down like no other coach in college basketball. It also helps that the team is very successful and has a rich tradition as well.

It’s anyone’s guess as to where Parker will decide to play college basketball next year. Whether it is the Spartans or the Blue Devils one thing is for certain, that team will have gained an excellent player and that team will be elevated to the top of rankings. It makes for a very interesting week leading up to the decision.
