Jabari Parker Will Join Duke University Blue Devils

Jabari Parker made college basketball fans’ ears perk up last week when he announced he would make his recruitment decision the following Thursday. He broke the suspense today by saying that he would be a Duke University Blue Devil.

Parker made the announcement live on ESPNU on Thursday December 20th at 4PM ET.

Parker had narrowed his list to five schools including: Duke, Stanford, Michigan State, BYU, and Florida.

His father had a guess to his son’s destination, even though his son did not confide the decision. “He hasn’t told me where,” Sonny Parker told USA Today. “I didn’t ask him. It’s kind of hard to say. He’s liked all the schools we’ve visited. He’s hard to read sometimes. He keeps things to himself, so I don’t put any pressure on him. I think it will probably be between Duke and Michigan State. That’s what I’m thinking.”

So it turns out his father had a good idea of the direction Parker was thinking. It would have been admittedly strange, but kind of cool to see Parker go to BYU. As far as a basketball decision though, Parker made a great call. He will get great coaching from Coach K there and be in contention for a championship every year that he is there.

Parker is currently working his way back from a foot fracture and has played limited minutes in Simeon Academy’s first few games. He will continue to get his conditioning back and at the end of the year will attempt to lead the Wolverines to their 4th straight state title.

And then apparently, next year Parker will be balling in Durham.
