One of, if not the top uncommitted recruits wide receiver Robert Foster made his choice on Friday. Foster will be playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Foster made the announcement at his Central Valley high school in Monaca, PA. Earlier in the month Foster narrowed his two choices down to the Tide and the Pitt Panthers. The announcement also came one day after Foster was named a USA Today 1st Team All-American.
Landing a top recruit like Foster adds to an already talented class for Nick Saban and the Tide. Foster is the 20th committment for the Tide, 14th out-of-state. Foster now joins talented commits Jonathan Allen, O.J. Howard and Derrick Henry.
The Tide land a very talented athlete, as Foster caught 45 passes for 756 and 14 touchdowns as well as 549 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground. The 2013 Under Armour All-American is the most high profile receiver the Tide have landed sinceJulio Jones.
Some did expect Foster to stay in his home state of Pennsylvania and play for the Panthers. But it comes as no shock to me that the Tide were able to make a strong push and out recruit the Panthers. The rich get richer so to speak, as Saban and company were able to land one of the most prolific wide receivers in this years class.
As if the Tide were not an already talented program, this years recruiting class just solidifies that they will be at the top for years to come. The Tide have easily a top three 2013 class and with the addition of Foster, there is no telling how far this group of talented players will take the program in the coming years.
