Oregon Ducks Commit Dontre Wilson Taking Big Ten Visit, Possibly More

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

This comes as no surprise. Everyone knew that once the news broke of Chip Kelly taking the head coaching job with the Philadelphia Eagles, it would shake things up recruiting-wise for the Oregon Ducks

Even though Dontre Wilson is committed to the Ducks, it’s not stopping the four-star athlete from taking at least one more visit by the time signing day rolls around.

Wilson got a slap in the face once the news came that Kelly would no longer be in Eugene. Kelly actually made an in-home visit to Wilson’s house the day before he took the Eagles job – that will make a kid want to stay committed to a program.

The visit is going to take place on January 25th, when Wilson will take an official to the Ohio State BuckeyesOn Thursday, offensive coordinator Tom Herman made a visit to Wilson. It seems as if Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes are pulling out all the stops and will do everything in their power to have Wilson flip from the Ducks. Although Wilson is technically a running back, he is also very skilled at the receiving position. There may be no need for the Buckeyes to take another running back, but splitting Wilson out wide and utilizing his talents could be very beneficial. Meyer is no stranger taking athlete’s and using them where they can on the field (e.g. Percy Harvin).

Look for the Buckeyes to roll out the red carpet for Wilson’s visit and doing what they can to get him to Columbus. That said, the Buckeyes are not the only team that Wilson could possibly be visiting.

The Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma State Cowboys could also be receiving a visit from Wilson, although as of now nothing has been made official. The Longhorns visit may just be an unofficial visit that could happen sometime during the week. The Cowboys, on the other hand, could very well receive a visit from Wilson the weekend before national signing day.

One thing is for certain – the Buckeyes will receive an official visit from Wilson, and the Ducks should be worried. They knew that there would be some recruits that would jump ship, and Wilson looks to be one of them.
