Alabama Favored for the Services of Safety Vonn Bell
Vonn Bell has been heavily recruited this year, as is the case with all top five safeties in every recruiting class. Bell, out of Ridgeland High School in Georgia, is being recruited as a safety, although he doubled as a wide receiver in high school. At exactly 6-foot tall and 190 pounds, his body is suited for the safety position in college, and he will be expected to add about ten to fifteen pounds in the next two seasons.
Thus far, Bell has been recruited by all the big name colleges but has only taken visits to Ohio State, Alabama and Tennessee. Of course, Alabama is the favorite because of Nick Saban’s penchant for winning national championships and developing defensive backs into NFL caliber players.
Despite that, however, Urban Meyer is one of the best recruiters in the nation, and made a quick splash last year in recruiting. Now that Ohio State is eligible for bowl games and is coming off of an undefeated season, it will be a more intriguing spot for recruits this upcoming year. One of those recruits could be Bell.
Bell is known for his all-around play in the defensive backfield and has been praised by scouts for his run support, ball coverage and his ability to close in on targets fast. Whichever team gets this up and coming safety will be a lucky one because he has a great chance of developing into an NFL-caliber safety.
