Only three schools remain in the hunt for Jermaine Lawrence, the five star recruit out of New Jersey. He has finally been cleared by doctors for full contact practice and should be back on the court soon. His list is down to UNLV, St. John’s, and Cincinnati; he retweeted a message about it on January 20th.

Syracuse was previously on the list of four, but apparently is out of the mix now, which shouldn’t thrill Jim Boeheim. Lawrence hasn’t taken his official visits yet, and might be waiting until he is totally healthy to do so. Lawrence is ranked no. 17 overall in the 2013 class according to Scout, and is the seventh ranked power forward in the class of 2013.
Lawrence is acrobatic around the rim, and can finish alley oops or put back rebounds from any position, He also has the ball handle of a guard, which makes it almost impossible for slower post guys to guard him. His athleticism makes him a devastating force in the fast break game as well. He has a mid-range game in the highlights I’ve seen, but does not quite have three point range. If he can continue to improve his footwork around the rim, then we could be looking at a potential college superstar. The only question that remains is what school Lawrence will take his considerable talents too. My money is St. John’s, but he also might fall in love with UNLV’s program.
