Now that the UNC Tar Heels are probably out of the running for the top player in the 2014 class, point guard Tyus Jones – where will the electric point guard look to as his future college home?
There are a couple ways to look at it. If you take the idea that Jones and Jahlil Okafor will be on the same team as fact, then there are only five options left. Assuming UNC is out (that is not official yet), then there are five schools that are still of Jones’ and Okafor’s list: Arizona, Duke, Ohio State, Michigan State, and Kentucky.
I don’t buy it, though. Or, I’m just terrified the duo will end up on Duke or Kentucky, but I prefer to think of it as a hunch.
For those paying attention to the Minnesota Gophers this year, watch out. They are ranked 12th in AP Top 25 right now, and are really playing well at the right time, because I am sure they have caught the eye of Minnesota native Tyus Jones. Tubby Smith would be a great coach for Jones, because he could give him the coaching that could get Jones to the next level. Smith was used to dealing with lottery pick-level talent at Kentucky, and Jones could continue to craft his game in his home state.
Jones would also become a state hero if he led the Gophers to only their second Final Four in school history. This is the school I hope he goes to, but in the end I’ll probably be writing about how John Calipari‘s visit went really well next summer. We shall see. Go Gophers, go! You can do it.
