Derrick Green, the Richmond (Va.) Hermitage star running back, is closing in on what should be a race to the finish line for his services.
“I still have two (visits) out there,” Said Green. “I’m still looking at some other schools, so I think I will take the last two officials.”
Green has been meticulous about his process, so he will surely end at a place where he is completely comfortable. He has visited Michigan, Tennessee, and Auburn. His next two visits are rumored to be Miami and Florida State, but he has not shown his cards. It will be tough for any of those school to crack the top though, because Green revealed his favorite last week.
“Michigan, they’re still the leader,” he said. “They’re up there, but other schools are still in the mix.”
This surprised some scouting analysts, who thought Auburn was in the lead, but apparently Michigan leapfrogged them.
“I’m still good with them,” Green told AL.com. “It’s kind of like I’m building my relationship over again with the new coaching staff. Coach (Gus) Malzahn is a great guy. (I) definitely know he is going to try to change the program around. I always have good talks with him.”
Green is an athletic and shifty back who will make many linebackers and safeties look foolish at the next level; we just don’t know what uniform he’ll be wearing. We’ll just have to see how his final two visits go, and then continue the speculation from there.
