Uncommitted Five-Star RB Derrick Green Prospect Profile
Derrick Green is a 5-foot-11, 215 pound running back out of Hermitage High in Richmond, Virginia; he is also the best running back in his class and is currently uncommitted with two upcoming official visits. He was not revealed where that would be.
What is so special about Green? A lot. Here’s a brief look.
There are a few things you will notice right away; Green is fast. He runs the 40 in 4.3 seconds flat, but he is also strong. He can bench 330 pounds, and squat 600 pounds.
This guy sheds tackles like a dog sheds hair; he seems to be playing at a different speed than everyone around him and usually gets an extra six or seven yards at the very least when he first gets hit. In high school he got used on a lot of pitches and even draws, which are riskier but he still seemed to gain positive yards on every play. He is a beast in the redzone as well, which is key because coaches won’t have to take him off the field in that crucial area.
Green is an old-school power running back, but he also has the speed to break a big play at any point in the game. Defenses have to play safe against Green and can’t gamble on a tackle if they don’t have help behind them.
Where will Green go to college? It is as yet unknown, but my money is on the Michigan Wolverines.
