Andrew Wiggins has been a busy man. He and his Huntington Prep (W.Va.) team will go on the road to Ohio this weekend after being in Springfield, Massachusetts last week for the Hoophall Classic.
Huntington Coach Rob Fulford has said that his players and staff are worn down, especially with so few days in between the trips to recover.
Huntington Prep has a 20-2 record this season and will play in the Scholastic Play-by-Play Classic on Friday against Withrow High School of Cincinnati.
Wiggins’ coach has admitted too, that his star player is growing weary of the recruiting process and all the attention that comes along with it. Heck I understand Wiggins’ exhaustion. I’m typing about this young man going to Ohio in an office in Illinois, so I understand that all the fervor around him is insane. That won’t stop me from ranting about it though.
The Express then have additional games in Ohio Saturday and Sunday, but at different schools. All the travel has apparently not helped Wiggins’ health either; he has caught the flu and bronchitis in this year alone, and all the quick turnaround probably only intensifies his sickness.
Wiggins’ weariness of recruiting only adds to that, and he may be wishing he had reclassified classes earlier in the year, so he could do his college visits in the fall instead of having to wait until Spring.
Well, hindsight is twenty-twenty, but here’s hoping Wiggins does everything in his power to keep himself healthy until the end of the year.
