San Diego State Aztecs To Host Five Star Linebacker Reuben Foster

The saga of Reuben Foster continues.

As if all of the ups and downs in Foster’s recruitment were getting boring, he’s now making headlines once again.

A quick run down of Foster’s recruitment…

Early last year Foster was committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide.  Then, last July, Foster changed his mind, and switched his commitment to the Tide’s heated rival- the Auburn Tigers.  Upon committing to the Tigers, Foster even got an AU logo tattooed on his forearm.  Then, in early December, Foster de-commits from Auburn, telling everyone that the tattoo was for a deceased friend who had played at Auburn.

Since then, Foster has been tied mostly to Alabama, Auburn and the Georgia Bulldogs.  Now a new team is in the mix: the San Diego State Aztecs.

Excuse me, I thought you just said a Mountain West team is in the mix for a five-star linebacker right from the middle of God’s SEC country.  Yes, you are correct.

Wow, I never thought I would see this, but it’s true.

SDSU announced they will be hosting Foster on a mid-week official visit this week, along with his close friend and fellow prospect, tackle Maurice Swain.

This is utterly groundbreaking for the Aztecs, who have never signed (or even hosted) a prospect as highly sought after as Foster.  Even if they don’t sign him, this is fantastic press for an up and coming SDSU squad.  This can’t hurt recruiting in their current class either.  Just to get Foster on-campus this close to National Signing Day is a victory for the Azetcs staff.

Unfortunately for Aztec fans, I don’t think there’s a snowballs chance in you-know-where that he’ll pick SDSU.  It will be either ‘Bama, Auburn or UGA.  I think he’s just trying to get out of the meat grinder for a few days, and head to sunny San Diego, or as the Diegans like to call it “America’s Finest City”.

But ya never know in this crazy world.  Maybe SDSU is the perfect place for him.  Maybe it’s back home in the deep south with his three year old little girl, A’Ziya.

We don’t know yet, but we should in just over a week on National Signing Day.
