Top 2014 Basketball Recruit Kevon Looney’s Prospect Profile
Kevon Looney is one of the top forwards in the 2014 class. For the top college programs, Looney will have a big bullseye on his back next year. He is currently the third ranked PF in the class, according to Scout.
Out of Hamilton High School (Milwaukee, Wis.), Looney has a great ball handle and can create his own shot in the half court. He shows a nice attack of the rim and can rise above the defense for the dunk if necessary. He doesn’t look like a 6-foot-8 player, probably because his perimeter skills are so advanced for his age. He will be a matchup nightmare for small forwards and power forwards at the college level. If he ends up in the pros, then he will have to diversify his game a bit more, but he should do just fine wherever he chooses to play.
Looney is skilled as a scorer because of the variety of ways that he can get the ball into the hoop. He shows a pretty consistent jumpshot in the above highlight reel and that might be the weakest part of his game right now. If he can get consistent production out of his mid-range and three point jumper then the sky is the limit for him.
Looney is currently undeclared on college, but he will make fans happy no matter where he chooses to play.
